We will now be working with USHandicap.com instead of oobgolf.com. We have submitted an update to Apple for smartSCORECARD+ that will now leverage USHandicap.com’s infrastructure. CourseGuide will use USHandicap.com’s course data immediately.

The smartSCORECARD+ update (v1.2.0) has been approved by Apple and is now available in the Apple App Store. As noted in the previous entry, smartSCORECARD+ now integrates CourseGuide, our range finder web app. In addition, you can specify your preferred units (yards or meters).

CourseGuide Web App Released!

CourseGuide is a free rangefinder web app available for iPhone Safari. Support for the web app is here. The CourseGuide URL is here (it will not work properly in a desktop browser, and if you try it with a mobile device other than the iPhone/iPod Touch and it works, let us know!).

We have submitted an update for smartSCORECARD+ to include this new CourseGuide functionality. We will update this page when it has been approved.

smartSCORECARD+ Released!

smartSCORECARD+, the paid version of smartSCORECARD has been released. Enhanced functionality include:

• smartSCORECARD+ allows you to mix players who are oobgolf members with non-members (the free version of smartSCORECARD only allowed oobgolf members to record scores).
• smartSCORECARD+ allows you to change the number of holes played (18, front-9, back-9), the type of round (Standard, Tournament, Practice), and player tees for a given round in the middle of the round.
• smartSCORECARD+ allows you to view and edit previously recorded rounds.
• smartSCORECARD+ shows city/state/country info on courses to distinguish same-name courses
• smartSCORECARD+ allows you to email your round to yourself, your playing partners, or anyone else you like.
• smartSCORECARD+'s Course Guide now provides buttons for zooming and rotating (the 3GS provides automatic course orientation).

iPhone Native App Update

In response to feedback, the Course Selection dialog now shows previous courses played and has an explicit Location Button that, when pushed, will attempt to find courses within your immediate vicinity (previously, the immediate vicinity courses appeared automatically).

In addition, the layout of the other views has changed slightly to match the layout of oobgolf’s scorecard, and for fairways and greens, an explicit ✗ shows that, well, you missed it (blank means no entry or, on Par-3’s, fairways aren’t relevant).
